NWE Wireless Networks has been successful in our application to the Department Enterprise Trade
& Investment Northern Ireland Broadband Fund. The application included an extensive expansion of
our WiMAX wireless Network in the Dungannon, Larne, Antrim, Fermanagh, Down, Armagh,
Ballymena and Newry and Mourne areas. Over the early months of 2012 NWE will be rolling out next
generation services to these areas.

NWE Wireless Networks provide up to 50Mbit next Generation WiMAX Broadband to Homes and
Businesses throughout Northern Ireland using our BlueBox Broadband Wireless Network. We have
a particular focus on rural areas and areas with poor or no broadband services available. We are the
first telecommunications company to connect to the "Kelvin" network which provides significant
advantages over conventional landline broadband. Wireless offers the only practical and economic
solution to make Broadband available throughout Northern Ireland and can deliver services up to
15Km's triple the distance from the telephone exchanges (5Km) or nine times the fibre enabled
street cabinet (1.7Km).

NWE have engaged with communities, political representatives and stakeholders to assist in
identifying areas with "broadband issues" and are planning to include as many as possible within
the scheme.

Rural areas to benefit from broadband investment

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today announced a new investment of £215,432 to improve
access to broadband in rural areas across Northern Ireland.

The funding has been awarded to North West Electronics through the £1.9million Northern
Ireland Broadband Fund, which is co-financed under the European Regional Development
Fund Sustainable Competitiveness Programme 2007-2013.

North West Electronics, which has previously received assistance under the Broadband Fund,
will extend its existing fixed wireless network to offer a range of broadband services to
business and residential customers in the Dungannon, Larne, Antrim, Fermanagh, Down,
Armagh, Ballymena and Newry and Mourne areas.

Welcoming the winning proposal put forward by North West Electronics, Arlene Foster said:
"This investment is continued evidence of my Department's commitment to ensuring that all
areas of Northern Ireland have access to superfast broadband services".

"There are areas of Northern Ireland where a fixed line solution is not possible for technical
and commercial reasons. The Broadband Fund enables local businesses to demonstrate how a
range of technologies can deliver broadband services to rural users."

This investment will result in the construction of 40 network access points in prime locations
across Northern Ireland. The project will make use of the Project Kelvin infrastructure to use
fibre to increase speeds to the areas of need.

The Minister added: "On completion by March 2012, this project will deliver access to
broadband services of at least 10Mbps to business and residential premises, in areas where
access has been limited."

"It is vital that higher speed broadband services are made as widely available as possible,
enabling those living and working in some of the most rural locations to benefit from high
quality, affordable broadband access."
